Points worth thinking through first
- ✓Where will you use it most? Mostly indoors, mostly outdoors, or genuinely both — this decides power add-on versus full powerchair more than anything else.
- ✓Do you want to keep pushing sometimes? A sensor-assisted add-on still has you propelling; a joystick add-on or full powerchair takes over entirely.
- ✓What's the ground actually like? Pavements and shop floors are a very different test to gravel, grass, kerbs and slopes.
- ✓Do you need to fold it into a car boot regularly? Add-ons and the Trike are built to come off or fold down; a full powerchair is designed to travel secured in the vehicle rather than being lifted in and out.
- ✓How far do you need to go on one charge? Range varies a lot across the options below — match it to your actual day, not just the longest number on the spec sheet.

What's the difference between a power add-on and a full powerchair?
A power add-on attaches to a manual wheelchair you already have, so you can switch back to manual mode any time. A full powerchair, like the Freedom One Life Series 5, is a standalone powered chair — no manual wheelchair required.
Can I try one before deciding?
Yes — we'd always recommend trying before committing to something you'll use every day. Get in touch and we'll talk through the best way to arrange it.
