Transporting a wheelchair in a vehicle requires four tie-downs, two in the front and two in the rear. Any person seated in the wheelchair will also need a 3 point seat belt. This is the standard to which you should always strive to achieve. Anything less just isn’t as safe.
At SDL our skilled technicians can supply and fit a wide range of wheelchair tie-downs to your vehicle, including the Braun Ability Tie-downs.
Manual Tie Down – 4-Point Webbing Restraint
A 4-point restraint is a cost effective alternative to the automatic tie down. The wheelchair is secured to special brackets fixed to the floor of the vehicle using webbing straps attached to each corner of the chair.
The front straps are often fixed in length whereas the rear ones are adjustable and contain a tensioning device to tighten the restraint.
The 4-point restraint has now secured the wheelchair – an additional inertia-reel seatr belt is required to secure the occupant to the wheelchair.
This is ideal for:
Wheelchair users who have a carer or attendant available to fit the restraint.
Simple and cost effective with many variants that are available from SDL to suit different weight wheelchairs.
BraunAbility – Choose what type of tie-down you want.
An over-centre buckle for tensioning, standard Quattro retractors with manual tensioning or Quattro Express retractors for self-tensioning mechanism.
The retractors are available in black plastic cover or in silver metal cover. Additionally we carry Electric front reels with integrated LED lights.
