Accelerate with your left foot, safely, in your own automatic car
If your right leg can no longer work the accelerator reliably, a twin flip up accelerator fits a second pedal to the left of the brake. Press the pedal you need and the other flips up out of the way, so only one can ever be used at a time. Supplied, fitted and set up by our technicians in Hemel Hempstead.

Fitted, calibrated and serviced from our fully equipped Hemel Hempstead workshop.
How a twin flip up accelerator works
An accelerator pedal is installed on each side of the brake, but only one can be used at a time.
You simply push the left pedal down and the right-hand pedal folds up and out of the way. Press the right pedal down again and the car is back to normal for anyone else who drives it.
The two pedals are mechanically linked, so there is no danger of another driver mistaking the left pedal for a clutch.
Is it right for you?
Who it suits
This is designed for you if you drive a car with an automatic gearbox and have no function, or unreliable function, in your right leg.
You keep normal braking with your left foot and gain a light, familiar accelerator on the same side. Nothing about the way you steer or brake changes.
If you would rather remove the pedal between drivers, ask us about the quick-release options as well.

Brig-Ayd
Brig-Ayd floor mounted pedal transfer
The Brig-Ayd floor-mounted left foot accelerator can be fitted to virtually all makes and models of automatic vehicle.
It lets you operate the throttle with your left foot while a guard prevents the accelerator being pressed accidentally by your other foot.
A quick-release mechanism means the left foot accelerator and right foot guard can be removed or refitted whenever you need.
This Brig-Ayd pedal is available through the Motability Scheme.

Cowal
Cowal left foot accelerator
Cowal developed the twin flip-up concept over 30 years ago and it remains one of the best solutions if you cannot use the accelerator pedal in an automatic vehicle.
Operation is simplicity itself: pull down the pedal you want and the other flips up automatically. A snap hinge holds it there, so there is no fear of the raised pedal flopping or being knocked down.
It suits all automatic vehicles with conventional accelerator pedals, including electronic, organ and plastic pedals. No holes are drilled into the floor of your car, and the pad on the left pedal can be made to match your original pedal if you prefer.
The Cowal pedal is available for private purchase only and is not available through the Motability Scheme.

Versatile for every driver
The accelerator can be worked by your left or right foot, so family members can still drive the car without changes.
No confusion with a clutch
Only one pedal can be pressed at a time, so the left pedal can never be mistaken for a clutch.
Fitted by our own technicians
Assessed, supplied and fitted at our fully equipped Hertfordshire workshop, then checked with you before you drive away.

Common questions
Will it fit my car?
It fits a very wide range of automatic vehicles, including cars with electronic, organ and plastic accelerator pedals. Tell us the make, model and year and we will confirm.
Can someone else still drive the car normally?
Yes. Press the right-hand pedal down and the left one folds away, returning the car to standard pedal use.
Does it damage the car?
The Cowal system needs no holes drilled in the floor, and installations are designed to be reversible.
Do I need to tell my insurer and the DVLA?
Yes, adaptations should be declared. We provide the details of what has been fitted so you can pass them on.
