The right boot hoist depends on the weight of your wheelchair, scooter or powerchair, the shape of your boot and how much space you need left in the vehicle.
Brig-Ayd's 40kg 2way Hoist is a compact option for lighter wheelchairs and small scooters. Autochair's Smart Lifter range then extends the choice through LM, LC and LP models, with lifting capacities from 40kg up to 200kg, and BraunAbility's Carolift 6900 adds a telescopic, 6-way option for heavier powerchairs up to 181kg.

1. We assess your vehicle
Boot shape, opening height and your device's size and weight determine which hoist — and which mounting position — will fit best.
2. The hoist is fitted
The hoist is installed into the boot using a vehicle-specific kit where required, so it works around your car rather than forcing a universal bracket.
3. You load at the touch of a button
The lifting arm raises your wheelchair, scooter or powerchair, swings it into the boot and lowers it into place in around 60 seconds.
4. It travels with you

Brig-Ayd 40kg 2way Hoist
Brig-Ayd's 40kg boot hoist is reliable and compact, built to lift small motorised scooters and manual wheelchairs of up to 40 kilograms. It installs neatly into either the nearside or offside rear corner of the boot area, and suits most vehicle types, including hatchbacks, estates and saloon cars.
The boom and upright arm use a unique folding design, so the post tucks away neatly when the hoist isn't in use. Brig-Ayd has paid particular attention to usability, so that most people are able to operate the hoist themselves without difficulty — and because the design is straightforward, the hoist can also be transferred to another suitable vehicle if you change car.
Control is simple: use the built-in control on the main body of the hoist, or the attached two-way handset for easier reach. An interlock system locks the lifting arm in the up position before the hoist can be operated, as a safety measure.

Autochair Smart Lifter — LM Range (40kg & 80kg)
Autochair's Smart Lifter LM range is built for smaller, lighter mobility vehicles, with a maximum lifting weight of either 40kg or 80kg. If you're looking for a hoist for a wheelchair or mini scooter, the LM range is designed to get you out and about quickly and easily.
The LM hoist is fully automated and operated through the touch of a button, removing the need to lift your mobility device into the car by hand. It's part of Autochair's wider Smart Lifter family — manufactured in the UK, backed by over 500 vehicle-specific installation kits, and built to lift and load in around 60 seconds.
As with the rest of the Smart Lifter range, the LM hoist is designed to transfer easily to your next vehicle, so a change of car doesn't mean starting over with a new hoist.

Autochair Smart Lifter — LC Range (80kg & 100kg)
The Autochair Smart Lifter LC range sits in the middle of the Smart Lifter family, with 80kg and 100kg hoist options. It is aimed at mini scooters and wheelchairs where the LM range is too light, but a full heavy-duty powerchair hoist is not needed.
The LC range keeps the same easy Autochair approach: simple operation, automatic lifting and loading, and a system that can usually be transferred to another suitable vehicle if you change car.

The Autochair Smart Lifter LP range is for bigger or heavier scooters and powerchairs, with 125kg, 150kg and 200kg lifting capacities. It extends the same boot-hoist idea to heavier mobility devices that cannot be lifted safely by hand.
The LP range operates automatically at the touch of a button and is designed to load a scooter or powerchair into the vehicle in around 60 seconds, giving you a straightforward way to travel with a larger mobility device.

BraunAbility
BraunAbility Carolift 6900 (up to 181kg)
The BraunAbility Carolift 6900 is a telescopic wheelchair hoist with powered lift and swivel, designed to lift mobility devices weighing up to 181kg into the boot of a vehicle. Its offset arm gives the hoist the ability to reach around to the side of the vehicle to pick up a wheelchair from the pavement.
Lift and swivel are powered and operated via a hand-held control, and the telescopic arm assists in bypassing narrow door openings or wide bumpers. To achieve a perfect fit, the Carolift 6900 can be cut in both height and length upon installation.
