Push-pull hand controls in a Mercedes-AMG A45

Tom Neathway was a Corporal with the 2nd Battalion, the Parachute Regiment. He was serving in Helmand Province, Afghanistan in July 2008 when he lost both legs and an arm. He came to us wanting to drive a Mercedes-AMG A45 — a car chosen for the driving, not for the adaptation.

What we fitted. A mechanical push/pull hand control operating both brake and accelerator, specially adapted to be floor mounted so it sat correctly in the AMG's cabin without compromising the driving position.

From consultation to delivery. Once the specification was agreed and approved, the work was carried out by our own technicians at our workshops in Hemel Hempstead.

Project completion and handover. Before handing the car over to Tom and his instructor, we checked every function worked exactly as expected and made sure Tom was comfortable with the controls and confident driving his new Mercedes.
