Carony
Carony is a transfer system that moves you from wheelchair to car seat without a single lift. The seat you are sitting in slides from the wheel base straight onto a swivel base fitted in the car — so you, and whoever is helping you, never have to handle a transfer at all.

Go anywhere, without the lift
A difficult or impossible transfer can be the thing that keeps you close to home. Carony removes that barrier by taking away the heaviest, riskiest part of getting in and out of a car — the lift itself.
As the user, all you need to do is stay seated. As a carer, if you can push a wheelchair with someone in it, you can use Carony — there is no need to be especially strong. The seat is as safe and comfortable as a standard car seat, and as easy to manoeuvre as a transport wheelchair.
Carony works well for couples, parents and children, and for anyone who wants to keep the independence they already manage at home extending out to wherever the car will take them.
The system
Three parts, one seamless transfer
The seat
Where you sit, safely and comfortably. It is the part that slides between wheel base and swivel base, with adjustable posture and pressure-relief features plus integrated carer handles with brakes.
The wheel base
Together with the seat, this forms the Carony wheelchair. Premium 16 inch wheels with disc brakes, a height-adjustment crank for docking, and a parking brake.
The swivel base
Fitted in place of the original car seat, this is what the wheel base docks onto. It rotates towards the door and, in taller cars, can lower before lifting seat and user back in.
How it works
Swivel, dock and slide
Three simple steps take you from wheelchair to a regular car seat, without anyone lifting.
1. Swivel the base out — the car swivel base rotates towards the door opening, ready to receive the Carony wheelchair.
2. Dock the wheelchair — wheel the Carony chair up and dock it against the swivel base; the two lock together securely.
3. Slide the seat and swivel in — the seat, with you in it, slides across from wheel base to swivel base. Disconnect the wheel base, swivel in, and fasten the car own seatbelt.

Built for the hours you spend seated, not just the transfer
Push handles with brakes
Integrated handles fold away into the seatback when it is used as a car seat, keeping the space clear. Disc brakes on both rear wheels, plus a hold switch and a parking brake.
Highly adjustable
Headrest height, lumbar support, individual armrest height and angle, seat depth, backrest recline, seat height and footrest length and angle can all be tailored to the user.
Carer-friendly ergonomics
Every lever used during operation and docking sits at the same height, at the base of the seat cushion, so there is nothing to search for mid-transfer.
Premium 16 inch wheels
Durable tyres with reflective sides for visibility after dark, plus a puncture-free option front and rear.
Fixed-position leg rests
The adjustable footrests keep their position relative to the seat as you change the seat height, so your leg position stays consistent.
Mesh storage pocket
A small pocket at the back of the seat, below the push-handle cover, keeps everyday items within easy reach.

Swivel base pairing
Turnout or Turny for the car side of the system
Carony pairs with a Turnout (a simple mechanical swivel base) or a Turny manual base (a more advanced mechanical swivel base) to form the in-car half of the system. The seat rotates into position, integrated safety catches guard against accidental detachment, and your carer simply lifts the lightweight wheel base into the boot.
At 15.5 kg the wheel base is easy to stow. It is particularly well suited to passenger-side fitting in low-built cars — think a Fiat 500 or a Volkswagen Golf — and works for both adults and children.

The maximum user weight is 120 kg.
Does my carer need to be strong?
No. If they can push a wheelchair with someone in it, they can use Carony — there is no lifting involved, and the wheel base weighs 15.5 kg to stow in the boot.
Will it fit my car?
Carony suits low-built cars particularly well on the passenger side, paired with a Turnout or Turny swivel base. Call us and we will check your vehicle.
