At SDL we undertake many assessments for our clients to ensure that we understand your abilities. This is so that we can make the best judgement and advise on the most suitable and practical products available to you from across the market. We do this objectively and fairly so that you are advised of the best solution to the problem that you may wish to overcome.
Assessments can be made in a number of ways.
A review of your physical ability including muscle strength and range of movement will guide us towards the most appropriate vehicles, type of control equipment and wheelchair storage choices that best suit your ability.
We always explore the simple solutions first, providing they meet your needs and most importantly your safety and that of other road users.
Our team of assessors have years of experience in not only undertaking the initial assessment but are also responsible to you for the successful outcome of your vehicle conversion, wheelchair or mobility equipment choice.
The assessment usually lasts 2 hours and will explore your mobility needs and objectives including driving a vehicle if relevant, transporting family and friends and transporting mobility equipment.
Car adaptations can help you overcome physical limitations to assist:
- Getting in and out of your car.
- Operating the primary and secondary controls.
- Loading and storing a wheelchair.
- Using a wheelchair as a car seat.
